3D Effect with Gimp

Hi. I was wondering how you make the 3D effect on userbars using Gimp. I tried to make it using the Ellipse Tool, but it only makes a ellipse shape and it doesn't go white. Can you help? Thank you.

actually the eclispe shape isnt good for 3d.try making what you want (shape,render,background)then copy it,after that put a border than go to image >rezise canvas then resize then just paste srry for no pics hope it works for you
