How to put a background?

Because it's always white. How can i change it as black? =/ Please teach me!

Press D, and then press G and then click on your canvas.

:Problem

- First of all

I tried using CTRL+D nothing happens. So i can't proceed to G.
Whenever i take an action. It doesnt' do anything? What happened? I openend the canvas. Then change its background. Black. And nothing happened? =/

lol, when you make a new doc.

just change the bg from white to transparent, its an option they give when they ask how big you want it :)

BUMP. Munky can i ask. What do you mean click the canvas? . I dunno whats canvas is. Do i need to click the image. Because it doesn't change anything. I only press G & D. And something was used. So later. I read the canvas. ? i dunno how it'll work!

ok, you want to change the background color?

click on the first layer (or lowest) in the layer pallete, if you can't see it, go to window->layers

then you could just use the paint bucket tool (also known as fill tool)

just select the color you want, then click on the paint bucket, then click on the canvas (with the background layer selected)

When you click File->New it will open a CANVAS. D resets the colours to Black and White, G selects the paint bucket tool.
