09-19-2007, 10:12 AM
Im not too sure on the brush i used on this one, in my gimp,. its called something daft like ... d3672 or somethying like that....but i forgot what it was called when i downloaded it from deviantart...ive tried searching for it again, but no luck, ill have another look now and see what i can find :D
noobie
09-19-2007, 10:23 AM
Ooo, i found it, the brush set i used was
http://galnexus.deviantart.com/art/Destiny952-Brush-Set-118-52601461
And in gimp it comes up as D118
I also love these brush sets too, theyre very similar to the one above
http://getfirefox.deviantart.com/art/Radon-Brushes-48713534
http://iceytina.deviantart.com/art/GIMP-Brushes-Wall-Grunge-27840192

http://project-gimpbc.deviantart.com/art/Xsel04-Abstract-2-0-37294203
My fav deffo has to be the top one though, as theres tons of them in that set, so you can use them for a lot of the sigs you do, without them looking too much like the same.

11-05-2007, 04:53 AM
Storm, heres your answer to your 2nd question.
1.Download your brushes using by unzipping-either winzip or winrar
2.Extract all ur downloaded brushes to -local disk(C)
-program files
-GIMP-2.0
-share
-gimp
-2.0
-brushes <---extract ur brushes to here
3. Done! Now you have new brushes :D
4.When at gimp, just click refresh brushes & those new brushes you have just installed which will come up,and u can start using them!
Storm

then when you go to post it, put img tags around it, there is even a button for it when you post, make sure to put one before and after the link :D

lokifeyson
11-20-2007, 12:35 PM
looks good except for that fact rikku is totally pixelated, was it just that bad of an image?
CloWn
11-20-2007, 12:40 PM
Yeah, I tried desperatly to fix her but somthing went wrong a long the way. Nothing I did fixed her so I hadta settle. =P
Any pointers on what would have kinda, drawn away from the pixilation?
lokifeyson
11-20-2007, 12:45 PM
yea, lol go here and use this render of her! http://planetrenders.net/renders/displayimage.php?pos=-12233
if your not a member I suggest you become one, its free and it is worth it! :D
CloWn
11-20-2007, 12:48 PM
haha kool, thanks bro. So appart from that, any other suggestions?
lokifeyson
11-20-2007, 12:50 PM
do you use gimp?
CloWn
11-20-2007, 03:40 PM
I do
lokifeyson
11-20-2007, 04:17 PM
haha, then no, lol
umm.....a blur effect maybe :?
noobie
11-20-2007, 06:00 PM
well if the pic started off pixilated then, i suppose a blur would help, or very careful smudging maybe on a low opacity
A good clear picture from the start will always make a hell of a difference though, and the sig will be more eye catching, but its a very cool sig
CloWn
11-21-2007, 09:46 AM
It was clear at the start and recently I found out what I did wrong. The render was way to big to slap strait into a sig, so I scaled it down, but then it was too small so I made it bigger.
After my recent sig makings I have relised that if you make a pic smaller in GIMP and it turns out too small, you need to undo and then shrink it again, or else you get that pixilated look...
Just a little tip for anyone that had the same problem and didn't know why.
lokifeyson
11-21-2007, 09:48 AM
oh lol, well yea, I could have told you that, hehe :D
glad you figured it out :D
CloWn
11-21-2007, 09:50 AM
haha, woops still have my flashing colours sig on, sorry if it gave anyone a headache.
lokifeyson
11-21-2007, 09:56 AM
hehe, you messing around with animations :D
CloWn
11-21-2007, 11:11 AM
haha, no. That was the slackest annimation ever. I just made 4 slides and put random colour on them. lol
lokifeyson
11-21-2007, 11:15 AM
so you have been playing around, lol :D
CloWn
11-21-2007, 11:19 AM
haha, yeah I guess. Arg, can't figure out how to add fonts to gimp, anyone know how?
noobie
11-21-2007, 12:08 PM
you just add font to windows....
go to control panel
go to fonts folder
put the fonts in by either dragging and dropping in, or click on file, instal fonts, find it then ok :D
Then reopen gimp up and they will be in there
CloWn
11-21-2007, 12:59 PM
Yeah I figured it out.=P I was looking in my GIMP folder, like for adding brushes. But you don't hafta close GIMP, I just hit the refresh button and it was good. =P
noobie
11-21-2007, 02:18 PM
oh kool, i never knew that, thanks :D:D
CloWn
11-22-2007, 11:43 AM
Any one doing this tut, I strongly recomend you learn and master it. I use this tut on almost every sig (except experiments) and then just add some twist to it. If you wont that real abstract shiny look, like this.
http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd106/hughesy777/CloWncloudsig.png
Then treat this tut like your bible. To get the effect that I get there, just play around with the settings till it turns out hardcore. ;)
lokifeyson
11-22-2007, 11:47 AM
you heard it folks! Hard! Core! 8)
CloWn
11-22-2007, 11:55 AM

noobie
11-22-2007, 01:27 PM
Hehe, yeah i use this way to work quite a lot, and add and change things to make them different, different brush sets make a huge difference too, i even use this way in photoshop too :D
CloWn
11-22-2007, 01:58 PM
I like using different bushes but I find it hard to leave my favourites out of a sig. The end product with them in it is awesome, but it leaves small variety between sigs unless I dramatically change the modes. It's strange how fast you get attached to brushes. :D

Noobie, Can ya help me with this:
1.I download a brush, say its name is 666
2. Where do i put it lol
Im using GIMP 2.4.4 btw
noobie
01-06-2008, 02:36 PM
go to
c drive
documents and settings
then your computers username
then gimp folder
then brushes folder
put it in there
im not so sure if its the same place with 2.4 tho, but it should be.
then restart your gimp, and your new brush set should be in there :)

A little question,
When i open my render as a layer, sometimes on PLanet REnders they have those names next to them like: RENDERED BY BOB or something. How do i get rid of that text? I just went over it with a black brush and then when i try brushing over it it misses it and stays black, how do i get rid of the text without stuffing up my brushing?
diesel
01-07-2008, 07:23 AM
erase it

noobie
02-03-2008, 10:55 AM
oo funky background hun, im not so sure the render goes so well with it, just the colours are so so different, but the background is brill, really ace work
-bH.munky
02-03-2008, 10:58 AM
Yeah, it looked well until I divided it then the background looked cool but not with the render. I used a mix of neverinwter and nitro brushes.
noobie
02-03-2008, 11:00 AM
did you have a play with the other options rather that divide...screen might have worked?
but i likes it, its cool.
least now you get the jist of what that sort of way of doing it does....did that make sence lol
-bH.munky
02-03-2008, 11:02 AM
Sort of . Yeah I messed around for 30 mins testing what would look best. Most of the time the colours didn't even change but I thought I'd use divide because it made the background look the best. Only just realised this was an advanced tut lol.

Okay- here is my problem- I have my render selected, and I pick the dropper from my toolbox. I click on a color, and it opens a READ-ONLY version of the pallette editor, and doesn't select my color that I want to use for the background brushwork. I've tried several locations on the render- different shades of the color- and get the same result....
A little help?

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff308/deathsage666/subzerosig.jpg
to get the hang of making the sigs again, i made this one, very lame, very simple, just practice
http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff308/deathsage666/dwarfsig.png
i do have a question, how do you select two different paths to remove the first time you make the path, for EX in http://planetrenders.net/renders/displayimage.php?pos=-22646 between the first and second horn there is a little black space, im my rendor i used pencil to fill it up, how do i select it with the rest of the path im deleting?
