Its kind of sorted, ive been on the phone again for most of the day agghhhhh lol. Ive now gone from half a meg to one and a half, so a little better, but normally i get 3 and a half at least.
they came to the conclusion that theres a problem down at the exchange as all tests are ok there end, so i tried ringing bt and no ones picking up, im sick of hearing the automated message that theyre currently very busy lol...so ill try again morrow :(
But the internet in general aint running that bad on 1 and half meg, so its no massive loss for now.

Extremely sorry for all the problems that are happening right now. I got the Server networking issues sorted but now im being told my server is under a slow and very painful denail of service attack.

Once i rejig the site and get VBulletin Im probably also going to move it to its own server. This server has given me nothing but troubles and attacks :(

Again sorry im still trying to work with my server admins to get this resolved

No offence ; but check my other reply in the downtime thread - if your admins dont know how to solve a DoS attack - then yes, you really should think about getting your own server.

Not as dear as you think.

Not sure what you mean I currently have 2 dedicated servers and this site runs on one of them ?? I pay over $600 dollars per month for the 2 both fully managed ? Again see the other post for more details about the problem.

I mean to run a server directly from home, from your net connection - especially if your going to become a fully licensed holder for a VBB forum. Beneficial to have everything in your face at home.

Plus, install a RAID array - and you can have it back itself up onto a spare HDD every night lol - no more worries about attacks in the future.

$600 for two fully managed servers? Surely for that - you should have the home phone number of the server IT guy lol. Either that, or the git should be living with you!!! 24/7 support lol

Thats relatively cheap actually... not sure how you would run a server like that connected to your local ISP... The datacenters have special links to the best backbones so again not sure what you mean about running it at home ?

your own server, you just assign the domain and IP, that IP is your server, you could just use your own server if you want, but as always, for ALL hosting stuff, i would recommend these (http://www.1and1.com/)guys, thats what i use, and the ROCK!!!!!

I dont mind people recommending others but i think if you include an affiliate id you should atleast tell everyone that you will benefit from others signing up else just remove the affiliate id..

thanks :)
