Blend in avatrs

Can someone please make a tutorial which says how to make the background of an avatar the same greyish colour as the sigbar interface? In other words:

On this avatar, how can you make the white *dissapear*? (I used Diesels avatar, Im sure he wont mind, it is pretty legend :P)

Also, maybe someone could make a tutorial for that kind of glossy avatar?

Ooo, I made that, like I did for all the staff, You make the white dissapear by askin me to save it as a .png instead of a jpeg lol. Sorry, I can't find the link to the tut I used to make em all.

oh whoops - is this a staff only thing lol? No probs if you cant find the link but are you sure that if you save it as a .png the white background will not be there?

Yep, all renders are or should be saved as .png's to remove the white bg.

magic wand will erase the white :o

The magic wand sucks, never use it lol. It will also remove all of the drop shadow.
