Hello everyone!

For you who do not know me, my name is Derek and I'm 19 from a small town in Indiana :) On Apirl 17th, 2008, I will be leaving for US Army Boot Camp! I got a 33k sign on bonus and I'm going in a 18-X [Special Forces Candidate].

Was just wondering, what do you guys/gals think about this war?

Lmk. :)

I think we should deffo be there (if you have seen charlie wilson's war, then you can see where I am coming from)

but I know we have done some things the wrong way, but I know that our intention is good and these people need help (whether they know it/like it or not)

i don't think we really should be there the whole thing is just bogus the U.S government is just after one thing oil.Its just pathetic that they have to involve the lives of our troops in their greed.Hopefully the next president will have higher intelligence and no stock in oil companies...

I don't mean to be rude here bloody, but do you watch the news?

I admit I don't really like bush, but things over there are in bad shape and if we pulled out now they would just get worse.

I watch the news, I understand that if we pull out it would be a sign of weakness which means we are stuck in this war until we drain all our economic resources and waste the lives of these brave men and women. I don't understand the reason for even entering the war. At first it was for terrorism, then we went after Saddam instead of searching for Bin Laden, now that Saddam is gone, we are fighting the war of the people for "democracy and freedom" and searching for WMD (where are these anyway?).

I just don't support this war due to all these flips and flops. I will always support the troops, they are their to always protect this country at the risk of their own life. But I do not agree with this war so I will always see it as a joke and a waste of human lives. =/

the war has been going on since the cold war was over, its just that since 9/11 people remembered it again

I don't like it either :(

I strongly suggest you see the movie, "charlie wilson's war"

it isn't 100% accurate, but it does help to explain why everything has happened the way it has :)

Good luck with boot camp =]

As for me, I can see why Bush is getting a lot of put downs like..all the time. But I mean, "Worst President In The World"? Come on, have you seen other countries!? This is why they hate Americans T_T

As for me, I don't see the war being over oil and whatnot, I see it as trying to control the "bad" people in the world. You know, those battling over religion or terrorists and the such.

BUT, we have an army and it should be used. Those people aren't being forced to go and fight and if anything most of them feel proud to be doing something for the betterment of the world and their country.

I don't like that we've been over there all this time, but I don't think we should pull out until EVERYTHING is finished. Not only would it show weakness but it would also leave a hole for the "bad" people to keep on being "bad". I do, however, feel that when we are out of the war we go back into isolationism and focus on making our society better (ei lower crime rates, better education, less quality gap, no prejudice toward ANYONE, healthier people and greener appliances and machines)
