well we had quite the interesting argument in another thread, here it is:

Life without joy would be a life of anguish, therefore it is impossible to live in a world with out them.
ArmedCivilian wrote:
Only because you have already felt joy. If you have never felt either emotion life would be perfect.
CloWn wrote:
If we had never felt emotion, that would mean our brains are restrained. The reason we feel emotion is because of the complexity of our brain, if we could not feel emotion, life would be perfect by your standards, but you would be brain dead. Smile
ArmedCivilian wrote:
How is that a bad thing? Our 'brilliance' is our own demise. It creates our pain, our suffering, our death. We grow paranoid because we think. We grow angry because we think. Almost everything bad happens because we think. Sure some good comes from being intelligent but the bad heavily out ways it.
CloWn wrote:
So you THINK it would be better not to think? We comprehend what occurs around us with our intellect. Even if your vision came to life, what good would it do? We would have the intellectual capacity of fish. We wouldn't even know our world had changed.
ArmedCivilian wrote:
That is, by my definition, perfect. Being as smart as a fish. You wouldn't have to worry about religion, politics, anything. Everything would be simple. Simple is good.
The point is, it wouldn't do us good. It wouldn't do us bad. It would just do.
lol, I don't worry about it anyway, I'll find out about what religion (if any) was right when I die. Politics I don't really have a say in it anyway so I ignore it and basically I just try to have fun and not worry or agrue about things I can't control :D

this is a question that cant be googled though
religion cant be googled, it has to be a personal thing imo or a social thing really
eg i went out with this chick that dumped me cuz i wasnt christian enough. i believed in god, prayed etc but 'he wasnt a part of my life enough' or sumfin so i wasnt christian
so yeh, i dont see why some people can say whose christian and whose not. just because you dont go to church every weekend etc etc etc doesnt mean your not christian.
its a hard topic but i think its sort of personal but not. like alot of people follow a religion because others do...they were taught to follow, not believe. i have been taught about god and christ and i have decided to believe but not worship as i think there is too much bull**** involved, because of the way christians view everything and make up things that i belive dont have anything to do with jesus and being a good christian but wanting to have things their way!

In personal belief. I look at people who worship a lil strangely. I am not in any way bagging religious people, that's your belief and you should follow it, but for a non believer, looking at someone who makes a hand sign talks and hopes that the creator of everything will make stuff happen seems incredibly illogical.
I'm probably the worst person to try and convince with anything though, I'll admit, I defend my beliefs viciously, usually at bad times..., that's why I can understand religious people defending their faith, and I think very logically. I like to think of a sure solution to problems rather then estimate.
When I think about religion, all I can see is, a bunch of guys who a few thousand years ago believed the story of some guy, not saying Jesus just an example, they believed so much in a story that they told others. I see religion as an Urban Legend on a gigantic scale.
There is no proof for any religion to my knowledge. Not being a bias person I have researched religion in my off time but non of it really seems to make much sense... Praying is probably the one thing I don't understand most.
The only reason you prey is because someone tells you, that if you prey to this figure good fortune will come a pon you, correct? Well if I told you to prey to a jug of milk, it would still, just be a jug of milk... IF the theory of the GODS was just some persons crazy story, then you preying to the GODS is doing about as much good as preying to the jug of milk...
Now this is specifically for Christians. Jesus said, if 2 or more of my followers shall join their hands and prey in my name, I will answer. Or something along those lines, I'm sorry for not having the exact quote. We know through the story of Jesus that after he died he appeared to over 300 people correct? So it couldn't possibly effect your well being or faith, we know he can appear to people, and according to that phrase, which is in the bible, if you and your Christian buddies, make a circle and pray for Jesus to appear to you in his name, he should appear correct? But will he? No, we all know that Jesus WILL NOT appear to you, now you could make a rationalization, you could call him a liar, or you could just believe he doesn't exist... I have opted the last...

I don't exactly know the book paragaph and line, but the quote would be "When two or more gather in His name, He is there with them". This is used to justify going to church. And while taken out of context it can sound llike all this means is that he is only with you if you go to church, but thats not what it all stands for. It's just saying that it is good to meet with other Christians and worship, as well as doing it on your own.
And as for me you probably have guessed I'm a Christian....I guess. I don't really like to call myself one...seeing as there are certain stigmas about them...which a lot are true...for some people...So, I see myself as someone who believes in God, Jesus..and prophets...and that there is good and evil, heaven and hell. I guess most of my beliefs comes from the all famous John 3:16, and the predictions made about stuff in the old testiment.
Won't go any deeper than that, haha. Just so y'all know where I'm coming from. Oh yeah, for the record I grew up going to church, something happend, had to switch churches, don't much go anymore by choice.

The religion debate. Such an ancient and unfilled one.
Religion is based off of astronomical events. Christianity was based of Egyptian religion. Judaism was based off Pagan (some of it from Egyptian) beliefs. I'm not exactly sure what Hinduism and Buddhism are based off of since I haven't put much research into it. Though Buddhism seems to be based more around self improvement so it would probably be just a spoken guide created and turned into a religion through time.
I'm not going to go through all the details but only tell you what is based off what so you can research and form your own ideas on religion. This isn't really something I feel can be debated. There are no real answers only theories and suspicions.
I'll just leave with claiming I'm Atheist for now.

Hmm, I might have my information wrong on the verse then.
If you are a Christian then you don't believe in rape and abortion and all these things correct? I have some interesting info from parts of the bible.
Liviticus wrote, (not an exact quote my bad ... -.-) that the men and non virgin women shall be killed, but you may keep the virgin women for yourselves. That's kinda odd, I know it's for from a quote but that's the jist of it, a lot of Liviticuses verses are terrible...
It is said in the Bible that God has arranged the time of birth and death. Therefor God has arranged every rape resulting in pregnancy and every abortion? Every Murder?
I found the quote I was talking about before. John 14:14 "Whatever you ask in my name I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the son; if you ask anything in my name I will do it."

look, everybody has own opinion on religion, you can't judge a book by his cover, Im an orthodox, and Christianity wasn't base of Egyptian religion, Egyptians believe in Alla (Islam), jesus was born in a country that now call Israel (I lived there for 12 years) the christianty began after the Jews crucified jesus on a crucifix, and judaism didn't come from egypt either.

Not sure the second link is correct but it looks promising. Plus there are many, many more sites that Google can introduce you to involving the similarities.
