Debating on getting a new system...

Well, I had downloaded a PS2 emulator and FFX for it. After some trouble with that, I got it to run, but it ran at maybe half the speed (at the most). So, I had bought a PS2 from someone and went out to buy FFX, and come home to learn it doesn't work. The PS2 the guy sold me would only work with one game. I went and had it 'cleaned' then it wouldn't even run that game without skipping...

Now, I'm debating on getting a new console... I was thinking of getting a 360 or a PS3 (would have to get one with backwards compatibility though). Now, I'm wondering if I should just get a PS2 since I could get one a lot sooner, and most of the games I would get would be for PS2 anyway (don't think I would lose any sleep without getting the PS3/360 games).

With a PS2, I already have FFX sitting by my TV :? , and it would be a lot cheaper. Everyone has been saying a 360 would be better, but I already have Gears of War, BioShock, F.E.A.R. series, and Call of Duty 4 on PC. A PS3 does have some games I would get that aren't on 360 (FFXIII & Verses), but I don't know if that would be worth spending an extra $300+ to get a PS3 for a few games instead of a PS2...

I've been asking other people's opinions on this... Which do you guys think would be better?

this isnt a good place to ask since everybody that owns a 360 says it is the best because they have it. but a ps3 is worth twice the money you have to pay for it, a blu-ray player for $500? cheapest around. and you can store movies, music, videos, pictures, and do alot of stuff that you cant on the 360. 360 does have more games, but the ps3 is a better entertainment console, and does have great games. i dont not own a ps3 or a 360 so this is unbiased. hope my opinion helped. :)

I have a PS3 and they are the ULTIMATE console. They won't let you down and the motion control is great! And the graphics are the best :D

I am bias, so I would say go with the 360, if you and/or your family has a Netflix account, you will be able to watch videos for free on the 360 starting this FALL! I can't wait for that!

i have played both systems, had fun times with both of them, but the PlayStation 3 seems more polished, the home screen is unbelivable and you can have photos, music, and videos. and the gameplay is overall better than 360. both great systems, you get WAY more for your money with the PS3, it is better.

I love my ps3, I got the 80g with backward compatibility for $500, also has four usb ports, cf and sd/mini-sd card readers, blu-ray, HDMI, Blu-tooth and it came with Motor Storm.

I don't have to pay to play online (or anything I do online with it) and I didn't have to buy a wireless adapter or hard drive separately.

Personally I have both, I like my ps3 better because it has way more capabilities and plus i know alot more peoople on the 3 then i dont on 360. Sicnce you said you want to play ffx then you would need to get the 3 for the backward compatibility. Plus the 3 has way better games coming out in the future, so in the long run i think that the ps3 would be the smarte choice but that is just me I am more of a sony man.

I had just got a PS2 since I would have to be saving up for another few months to get a 360 or PS3... I'll probably wait till I get a job and then when I have the money, I'll get a PS3... hopefully cheaper, and FFXIII isn't coming out anytime soon anyway... The demo isn't coming out till March...
