How do I get my clan higher on the search at google?

How would I go about getting my clan higher on the ranks when someone entered something like, "Gaming community, Gaming Clan, Xbox 360 clan". Stuff like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That question is quite deep and there are a few things so i will try to simplify what you need to do:

1.) You need to pick a set of search terms that you want to rank on google with. For example for me to get to #1 on google for this site I chose that I wanted to rank highly for "Forum Signatures", for your site you might decide you want to rank high on the term "Xbox 360 Clan". What you choose is up to you but you need to first isolate a term.

2.) Now How do you decide which terms will get you the most traffic or which terms do normal people search the most. Well there are a couple of tools you can use to research how popular certain keywords are.. My favourite is listed below:

3.) Once you have done the above the next step which is the hardest is to exchange links with other similar sites. So getting other clan sites to link to you is a good thing. Also its essential that the text they use in the link is the text you gave them (i.e. the one you chose to rank highly for e.g. Xbox 360 Clan. Just keep building these links and over time google will recognise you as valuable contender for the term "Xbox 360 Clan" or whatever you decide to go with.

4.) As well as linking with similar sites you can get your self ranked quickly on toplists such as http://www.topgamersites.com or general directories.

I hope the above helps, and to be honest there is no magic bullet or quick way to the top. You just have to work hard on building those links..

Thanks trade that helped a lot. I don't think other clan sites will wish to link to my site. They are trying to build up their own member base. I will try the top gamer site though. Thanks again trade.
