i was just wondering who watches it here, and what you all think of it!

Ok...here i go hehe....My take on Dr Who

I never watched any of the classic series when i was growing up...i hated sci-fi or space or anything like that.
But about a year ago my sons caught one of the new series episodes on tv and loved it, i never payed that much attention to it as i thought it was like the old series'....untill my eldest bugged me to download all series 1 and 2.
So i did, and i thought what the heck, ive spent all this time downloading them and putting them to disc, ill try and watch them to see what all the hype was about...and ive been glued ever since :D:D

Christopher eccleston, what more can i say but Fwooorrrr lol....hes gorgeous, and not many of you will be interested in this fact, as youre almost all male lol but he sooo is lol, but back to the topic lol....
I loved the first series and was gutted when eccleston left, he made a brilliant doctor, his whole personality made the show, and billie piper was also fantastic.

I started the second series and i wasnt dissapointed with the new doctor david tennant, as you can probably tell by my sig lol....again, his personality in the show was ace....i was more addicted to the second series.
And like the femal i am lol...i cried when rose left lol....such a sad ending. :(

I thought it was going to be hard to get used to a new companion....but martha is just as good, its taken a little longer to get used to her, but shes brill and im sooo miffed that for the 4th series shes not in it till half way through, and the doctor has a new companion for the whole 4th series...Katherine Tate. I think that may take loads of getting used to, but im hoping all will be well as it has before. Russel T Davies is a fantastic writer and im sure he wouldnt have chose her if she wasnt right for the part.
Martha wont be happy though when she returns lol, little miss jelous lol

But anyways, i think my all time fav episode would have to be Blink..Holy crap, it scared the living ****e outta me lol.
My kids loved it though but were also very scared bless them lol, maybe i should have watched it first before letting them see it, but it is afterall a kids show lol

Ive tried watching some of the old ones since ive become a fan, but still i dont like them at all....theyre totally different to the new dr who...i love a storyline with the action too, a continuous storyline...the old ones dont seem to have that much.

Im gonna shurrup now ive made you all fall to sleep lol...youll all regret the day that wolf posted this topic up haha....sowwy, im just a wikid fan!!

Last of the timelords was brill...i watched it again the other day, sometimes i go on a mad few days and watch all 3 series continuously lol...yeah i know...im weird right lol.
Those statues at the end of blink scared the life outta me, and i didnt dare go in my garden, as i have a few lol. Funnily enough, the only person that episode didnt bother was my 4 year old girl, who was 3 at the time lol...nerves of steel lol.
So what do you think to the new companion to series 4,donna...catherine tate... im not too sure shes gonna pull it off, allthough i bet we have some funny moments with her. I hope its gonna be a good series.

torchwood was good, i saw most of them
but its mainly suitable for adults, there are quite a few adult themes in their episodes..
but yeah, it gives you good details about Captain Jack Harkness's past, so check it out when you have the time!

Ooo, captain Jack.....well for one....hes gorgeousssss hahahaha....and secondly....hes brilliant, love his character to bits, and wow that was a shock about The face of Boe....It kind of makes sense i suppose with him being bought back to life by rose, and never being able to die....But he did after billions of years, i just wanna know how he was left with just a face....Big Ol' Face as the Dr kindly puts it on his deathbed lol.

I love how the writed R T Davies Makes everything make sense and kinda fit together at a later date...Like with the whole Vote Saxon thing going off all the way through the 3rd series...then at the end to find out why it was mentioned. Little things thoughout like the vote saxon posters and stuff.

Id like to see captain jack in the forth series..i really hope we do...not the same without him....Ooo bit more info for ya...

Billie Piper may be in the process soon of signing to come back sometime in the future for a few episodes..apparantly, theyre gonna have in the storyline that she finds the doctor somehow after searching for a way through to him...to tell him that everything hes ever done to save the universe has had massive bad effects on earth in some way....what way, i dont know, but itll be excellent to have her back for a little bit...again though, martha probably wont be happy lol, little miss jelous lol

What a mad thread, it's an out-of-control-DrWhoathon! :shock:

I've always been a fan of Dr Who ( new and old ) and my memories go back to John Pertwee from my childhood. I've even watched the really old stuff with Hartnell et al and believe it or not they are quite decent for the time.

I love the new incarnations too - I think the last series got a bit wobbly at the end though ( I'm gonna be the first poster flamed by Noobie ). I do miss Rose Tyler but that's the nature of the beast - it has to move on and I'm betting she'll be back.

I've started watching some of the old episodes again on UK Gold, great for nostalgia although most of the assistants aren't as sexy as I remember, maybe it was a teenage thing I was going through ( all time favourite was Nerys Hughs lol, what can I say ).

Favourite episode from the new version? Blink of course, absolutely awesome writing as a stand alone episode using different writers I think? Thought there was supposed to be a spin off from that one involving the record shop . . .

Man I love watching Dr. Who. one of my top favourite episodes is Blink, the one with the statues, I like how they took the story into the context of another point of view, to show that other people are having these kinds of encounters like Dr. Who gets. Also could I ask a question guys, I missed one of the first episodes of the most recent season, even though its over, I would like to know what had happened. I think it was the one involving a bride or something.

Although I think the one with "the bride" is Cathryn Tates first appearence which was a special of some kind ( or was it? I'm betting Noobie knows ). Now I think of it it may have been an early season 3 episode - try Stage6 maybe, you should be able to download or stream.

You may also have seen trailers for the coming series in which she plays a prominent part.

Hmmn, I suppose my real disappointment in the last few was "The Master".

I thought his introduction was inspired writing but despite it being played by John whatshisname out of Life on Mars ( which was also awesome ) I think the storyline for him fell far short of what I had hoped for. I don't know quite what it was but his portrayal was a shadow of the fantastic performances we had seen for that role in the original series.

I suppose in many ways the casting directors, special effects department and the writers are going to come across this problem many times. So far they've done an excellent job of updating and recasting it whilst remaining true to the original.

I'm going to try and put a soundbite on it by saying that the modern Dr Who success is based on a very clever "evolution" of the original whereas the final three episodes of series three felt to much like "revolution" to be comfortable with . . .

And i suppose a lot of people were expecting a bit more from the new one, although i think the last few episodes were brilliant, they could have made it that bit more awesome...there was so much hype with the master coming back and i think he dissapointed many viewers.

Haha, I'm counting down here as well - We're at home this Christmas so they'll be no debate over what's happening at 6.50 pm :D

I just have to make sure that all the noisy presents are out of reach of the kids. I've just realised as well, that this year I can watch it in widescreen HD on my laptop, tucked safely away from the crowd. We still have a relatively new ( 5 year old ) crt tv in the main room that isn't going to be replaced until my son stops hitting it with everything he lays his hands on so I'm still on hold for HD to enter our lives properly!

Yup, The Master was legendary ( much like the Daleks and Cybermen which have been handled so well in the new incarnation ). If you can catch some of the old episodes with him in it's well worth it.

During the John Pertwee years he was the principal protagonist and I think those episodes, more than any others, stand up well today.

For several series The Dr was based in London with "The Brigadier et al" being a major part of the plot lines and in hindsight that time has a lot more in common with what we're watching now.

I think, despite Tom Baker being a great Dr, the story lost its way when it became less London / England based and I love that it has returned to that idea.

Certainly, when Tom Baker left, it went down hill from a storyline perspective. I don't think the actors that followed got a fair shake though - more a case of times having changed with the advent of Star Wars special effects and more savvy audiences.

well basically...theres an alien in the form of a human...his name is the doctor. his species is a time lord
he travels through time and space and in the past and future normally with a human companion...mainly female.
Not looking for trouble but always stumbles across other aliens trying to take over eart or destroy other planets or races etc.
Theres a lot of comedy in it, a lot of action....proper storylines too...i cant really describe it enough for you to be able to appreciate it, but if you watch 1 episode, youll see what i mean :D
im not normally into sci-fi, this is just completely different...absolutely awesome storylines and brilliantly written :D

erm, to be honest, im not too sure, when i first heard bout martha as the new companion, i was gutted, i loved rose and didnt want the dr to have a new gal...but ive grew to love martha, shes awesome, im glad shes still in the 4th series.
I love donnas personality, and i think we will get a lot of laughs from her...not so sure yet how she will be as a regular, but im sure ill soon find out and have an opinion lol.
I just cant wait for the last 3 episodes of the 4th series...
in one of them...the doctor is stuck in space, and its left to martha, rose, donna and sarah jane to save him, they all in the tardis lol, that will be awesome, and we will still see captain jack in the 4th series too, to thats ace.

As far as i know, as they havent given too many details away yet...All i know is...Rose tracks down the doctor, because somehow, everything hes ever done to save earth has in some way been effecting earth, and its at huge risk.
So she tracks him down...Thats all i know to do with rose coming back.
Martha will be in half of the new series...

David tennant has said he would like to continue doctor who for as long as he possibly can and has no intention of quitting. Altho so far his contract only goes as far as the end of next year, after 2009 xmas special.

Nobodies contracts have been renewed after that, but we will still have doctor who, as russel t davies has said dr who will be around now for yrs to come.

So fingers crossed they will still want david tennant :) I think they will, hes the best by far.

Oh right, cool. Well the one episode I watched was when he was stuck in a hovercraft traffic road and it could take years to move if you didn't have a pass, and at the bottom of it, where giant crabs or something. That was a pretty good episode.

Well, ive not commented on dr who in a while, and seeing as though we are half way through the series, i thought it bout time i had good ol natter bout it all again to yaz all hehe.
Whats everyone thinking to the series so far?
Im loving it...the last two episodes have been fantastic (2 parter)
The writing is amazing, i dunno how the hell they do it. And so far catherine tate has proved herself to be a fantastic companion. Her acting is perfect. I must admit to start with i was worried how she would pull it off, as ive only ever seen her do comical stuff...but omg! shes brilliant. Shes had some very moving scenes all the way through this. Almost had me crying a few times. Anyway, more will come soon from me hehe, wanna hear what everyone else is thinking to it so far? :D xxx

david tennants has signed up till the end of 2009, which means he will be in it untill xmas special next year.

Nobody has signed up for 2010 yet, but dr who will deffo be up for the 5th series then, so yay....

My sources by the way, are interviews watched from david tennant and russel t davies

Anyhow...

Did you notice that the camera paused for some time on his hand in the jar? I think that has something to do with him regenerating back into himself.

so he will kinda become the 11th doctor lol

Im not sure why the hand will help, but if you watch it back, youll see what i mean about them focusing on the hand for a considerable time longer than expected.

Anyways....more speculation from me hehe....

I also think theres not going to be a happy ending, i think at least 2 of the companions are going to die....rose i think will be one of them :(
