on the main gimp interface. it says that you can drag dockable dialogs here in italics. when i first installed it i was clicking around and i had draged something off of there and want to put it back. nothing will dock there, and p.s ctrl + k doesn't do sqwat for my render i've read all the tips and tried the gimp site and have seen many tutorials on render. and i can't clear the background. maybe i havn't downloaded everything i need

disregard this post. be sure you downloaded from the link noob provides.
it's the same site where i got my first install and it's a mess even if you have the installer. use noobs' link here.gimp 2.2.17
and youll need GTK+ 2 for Windows (version 2.4.14) installing first
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/old.html
Ktrl+z will edit/undo but the dialog wont re-dock unless you drag it in i'm sure. if you don't know what i'm talking about be sure you get the latest version of gimp out there then on the main gimp interface Klick and drag the "Dialog" off of it. should be about halfway down.
but before you do just make sure that you won't let it go some place else or Klose it. there Kan't say i didn't warn you.
As for the problem with the Ktrl+k issue I opened the preferences/interface/Konfugure keyboard shorkcuts and VIOLA alot of the keyboard shortcuts is disabled. Trouble is i forget what Ktrl+K did.
Erm,"Selection to path?"

this won't work with noobs' linked gimp
if you see this on the gimp then you have the wrong one installed. do a complete uninstall and manually search for gimp files to get rid of them.
all of your saved files will remain in their folders no matter what you do as far as i know.
again if you see this post below you have the wrong one installed.
I resolved the docking problem by clicking file/dialogs/tool options.
the tool opened up and you can drag it from where it says paintbrush ( you'll see a hand icon) then drag it on top of the gimp.
now to Konfigure the gimp to bend at my will. Ughhhhhh.

I followed this link after the 4th reinstall and i had to manually remove alot of the files left afterwards. this link provided me with a slightly different version than the one i was mentioning before with the " you can drag dockable dialogs here" this one does not have that.
so i'm going to fire it up and try a render

WOOOOT!
Hat's off to all the not-so-newbies.
The render was a complete success this time.
But I'm not out of the woods yet aye?
