If this goes through, just think about what will happen to sites like Sigbar. although, this is technically aimed at P2P and illegal music and movie downloads, think about what the end result will be Because we technically use "copyrighted content" to make most of our art, we will no longer be able to use any resources other than those we: (A) make ourselves, or (B) are given away or paid for. Forget fair use, that just gets thrown out the window.

I don't have time to read the whole article but there are two things to consider and that is first off good luck going after every single person, this would take so much man power, and that is why people still download torrents and other illegal stuff because they know the risk but they know there is a slim chance the government will ever go after on little person.
Secondly for art there is a Fair Use Clause in the copyright that allows the use of copyrighted material as long as its not the whole original piece. I think that is how we are allow to render a famous picture and still use it, because its only the render and not the whole image.
Needless to say its good that they want to crack down on theivery, but at the same time its going to be such a hard job for the government to accomplish.

i agree fully with jeff, and i would like to add that polices are mostly looking to bust those who upload illegal stuff and they arent so keen on those who just download, because if they would start to look for every people it would take much time...

Jeff pulls up very strong points. I agree with his argument, and like the others above me, well said.
