I just got Gimp yesterday, and I'm such a noob at it dude. Can you tell me what blending is supposed to do, without laughing?

The purpose of blending is to...well....blend the render with the bg and effects. Blending the render makes makes it not seem like you just threw an image onto a BG.

Cool, thank you!
Also, does anyone know how to have more different text types? I don't know how to, the all look plain, ugly and the same to me.

Thank you!
Het Hackgod, I can't hide or delete the sparks layer, it just stays there and I can't get rid of it.

open your layers dialogue [ now you should know how] and untick the box near "lock". right click the sparks layer and select delete layer.. this should do

I tried it I dunno how many times. and the render just comes out the same!
Are there any other places with blending tuts? thanks!

I find it easy too, and the steps are simple, but it's just something that when I do something that it says, it goes wrong. like when you say "delete or hide the layer" it ends up the same as it did before... I don't see a difference
and how do you hide a layer?

To hide a layer, you must click on the layer first, in the layers page i mean. Then you must click on the little eye which is to the left of the layer name.

I dont know if im doing something wrong but im running into a major problem with this.. The 2 main things that are going wrong are:
1. When i put my render onto my backround & then select the brush/sparks, it wont let me brush around the render, it will only let me brush on the render. And when i try to click on the backround layer it wont let me, because it shows my render layer as a floating selection & cannot click on any layer but that..
2. Just to see what would happen, i anchored my render layer, so that my backround/render is all 1 layer. I then selected the brush/sparks, and proceeded to brush all around the anchored render. But the problem is it doesnt count the sparks as a layer, after i brushed sparks all around what i wanted to do, i still only had 1 layer.. Help plz!!
