When it comes to making sigs, whenever I get a render that has A LOT of detail in the hair, I really have problems with that. I can't erase it's background properly, can't blend and so on. So the hair part mostly comes out looking VERY ugly and there's nothing I can do but to just leave it like that, but it's not really supposed to look like that.
For example:

that guy has a lot of detail in his hair on the back, and I just can't seem to erase it properly so it doesn't look so messed up.
I hope you guys get what I'm saying (if not, just ask and I'll explain again) Do you guys have any tips to make hair look natural on a sig? Thanks a lot :)

I totally get what you are saying. The hair is to complicated and to detailed that it is extremely hard to get it correctly on a signature or avatar and such. I personaly dont really know about this, but im pretty sure some artist on here will help you out. Just be patience and some one will come.. Hopefully. :)

I would just try and find a version already rendered, if its not a possibility, then just give it your best :)
you could always ask people to render it for you, maybe have a point reward or something :)

Well, loki, thanks, but that's not what I wanted. i really don't want people to do it for me because I want to learn, also, if I can't find a rendered one all the time, which is something I rarely do, I also wanted to learn a trick for hair.
If someone knows how to take care of this, then please respond, I don't want to be lazy, I really want to learn.

that is kinda hard.Try using small erasers, that should help

I use 1 pixel eraser and it still doesn't come out good. :?

did you use the paths tool?
After your done, get a soft glow brush and blur the edges a tad.

mhm path around it and delete it?make sure that layer isnt locked
Just use the path tool and go around it best you can, when I render it mostly doesn't matter how well the hair is because I'm going to blend it better later on..

Thanks guys.
But wow, the Path tool doesn't work for me, it just makes a box. Do I need something else to use this tool? Like any special brush or something? 'cause it's not working.

I don't use gimp so I don't really know, but I'll guess that you just have to check your settings :)

I never really specified that I used anything so I don't know why we're talking about this.
And if I said I don't use Gimp, I use Photoshop of course.
