having to reformat...

okay, for some reason, my computer wants to be annoying and not boot. each time i start it up, it just stays black. only real thing to do is to reformat it, but the activation code on the disc sleeve won't work. each time i put it in (correctly, of course), it says it's invalid and can't be activated. i had another code written on a piece of paper (it's a legit code, it was the one used to install on my mom's laptop) and i lost it. anyone know what to do that's legal?

I've had this problem before. I solved it by just continously restarting my computer over and over again. Turns out I need a new power pack, it still works but it could freeze any time o_o
