hi im new to making sigs, any help?

i just got into making sigs, can anybody be like my mentor or just teach me the basics, also what programs do i use? i got paint and picture it. but i dont really know how to use them. also were do you get those cool background from? and i still cant figure out how to cut out the guy and put them in the background you want. i just need someone to teach me some stuff.

I'm not really a pro and there are much better people here than me, but I can probably put you off in the right direction.

Firstly, what a lot of people use is GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/). It's a program a lot like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro but it's free. Although, it wouldn't hurt if you could get your hands on a copy of Photoshop, or PSP. I think my copy of PSP was 30 US dollars, but I'm not sure as it was borrowed from a friend.

How you cut out an object that you want is pretty simple, and I don't think Picture It! has it and I know that Paint does, but lets face it, paint is crud. :lol:

This is done either by using the freehand selection tool, preset selections, or the magic wand(which can be set to different filters and tolerence when used to get the right effect).

The only way to really learn (I'm still learning myself) is to fool around with it and see what possibilities there are. If you want to PM me feel free to do so I think I could go on all night :D

There are tons of tutorials all over the internet, including on this site for photoshop, and gimp, thats how i learnt :D
But like already said, your best bet is to fool around with one of them and make tons of mistakes to eventually learn from them :D

Welcome to the site , sig making is fun but it requires a little work to get you started. Like the rest have said, do things 1 step at a time, and just try out the various tutorials.

Once you make them then you can alway show off your work here and all of us will be happy to help you along :)
