inactive checklist?

On my forum, when we have inactives, we run an inactive checklist where a person hast to post on the checklist to confirm their active. then after a period of time, anyone who has not posted on it (not including higher ranked people we know are active) if kicked.

you got ALLOT of inactives... so what do you think?

i think the only problem with that is that, if old members decide to come back, after lets say 6 months, and they find their account deleted, then its not good.
Also, it would take forever to delete all of the non-active members or spambot accounts.

I'm only a mod, so I don't have those options, but that sounds like it would take forever!!! :D

But, if you thin about it,

the spam accounts are just going to keep pilling up and it's going to turn into a living hell to clean up...

I would get started soon before it's too late :shock:

but to figure out who is spam and who isnt would take a very long time, and im talking months of a lot of hard work....very tiresome too.
Also, lets say if months of all that down the line, and we manage to clear it up...its just another thing me and trade have to sort out whenever new spam members arrive, and i know trade is extremely busy with this site and all his others too and his general life...and i have loads on as it is with the running of the site, looking after my kids and the general household duties, as well as donations, modding the forums whenever the mods arent on, etc....i love doing it, wouldnt change it for the world, but if its no harm being there then theres no point spending the time to get rid of it all and to keep it up on a regular basis....if it affected the site in some way then yeah i would deffo spend the time to do it. i wouldnt mind at all then. :D:D

i dont like it, kicking people off if they are on a holiday, etc, isn't a great idea..
and it depends on how often people go on for, etc

The point here is that we remove all these guys , then what ? How does that enhance the forum ? It doesn't. Its a nice to have but its waste of time really.... The most important thing is that spammers aren't bombing us with spam.

Regarding inactive members I have many accounts like that at other forums, some i only visit once a year or so when i have a problem and need help, I dont think thats wrong..

its only memory space whats the point of deleting them , and yes there are mods for it .
