2 things. 1 there is already a IRONMAN Thread right above yours, no need to start a new one.

and 2 the battery was to charge the electro magnetic magnet to keep what shrapnel was in his blood stream from reaching his heart and killing him.

No he wasn't able to get all of the shrapnel so thats why he had that magnetic thing to keep pulling the shrapnel away from his heart.
