Hey everyone, I just upgraded to photoshop from GIMP, but I don't understand everything on here. I have loads of questions but it would take too long to write them all down here, so I was wondering if anyone could help me, or show me a guide or tutorial on how to start off and where to find all the tools and new brushes from deviantART, I can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, lots of beginner tuts can be found here: http://globalsigalliance.com/forums/basics/
And as for brushes etc. on deviantart just type for eg."photoshop spatter brushes" download them and save them in:C;\program files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Cs,Cs2, Cs3, whichever you have)\Presets\Brushes
Then once you have them in there, restart photoshop and you can find them by pressing B(for the brush tool) and going into the brush menu which is located in different places depending on what version of photoshop you use I think.
Also wolf's Dr. Who tut gives you a bit of info on the tools.
Hope that helps you a bit.

Yeah that helps, thanks Munky. I'm not sure about everything still, even a basic question like this:
how do I add a render? I can't see the option anywhere, plus when I added a C4D, it changed the size of the canvas, how do I prevent that from happening?

When you opened the C4D it opened it in a new canvas, it didn't resize your current canvas. To add a render you just open it up, get the move tool(the arrow) and drag in your render onto your canvas.

I see thanks. How do I resize the render? I don't see this option either, only that I can resize the canvas, but not the render.

ctrl+t then press on the chain thingy that shows up on top. Then rezize your render by dragging it's edges down.

Or you can hold down shift instead of clicking the chain. Clicking the chain is "easier" though.
