layers window for gimp

when i open up gimp the bar with all the tools opens up but the layers window doesn't anymore.

Is this something i caused or what and how do i get it back?

no it isn't because you did something.It just happens.So i normally go to dialogs and click on "layers".Or press ctrl+l
