logo tut needed

anyone got a tut on how to make a round logo??
i mean so that a cirkle looks like 3d...

my guess would be make a circle make a new layer, make a smaller circle or oval, colour it white and loyer the opacity

ok here is what i got,

i drew the first circle,

made a new layer,

on the new layer i drew an oval to fit in the top part of the 1st circle

i then used the gradient tool to gradient white to transparent, done :D

im not very good at photoshop so u could prolly make it turn out better than me, by making a better oval or whatever
