This.

The other day I was coming home from church and up ahead before turning onto my street I see an ambulance and a police car on the road, lights flashing. Now, for where I live this is not normal so as I was turning onto my street I stopped to try and get a betterlook but I couldn't see anything. I shrugged it off and went on my way.

When I pulled into my garage my mom was just getting out of her car (two car garage....) and asked me if I saw the ambulance. I said yes and she preceeded to tell me what had happened.

Her and my dad were on their way home from church (coming from the other direction, we go to different churches) and my mom saw this lady laying on the sidewalk next to the road, face down, barely any clothes on, a cigarette in her hand and a hospital band on her arm.

Now this particular road that they were travelling on is a very busy street, VERY BUSY. Multiple cars drove by this lady without even slowing down. When my mom saw this lady she told my dad and he turned around. By the time they got back some other lady had stopped and was calling the police.

My mom told me that the lady was very confused and kept talking about "that %&*^ who threw me out" "Threw me out like garbage" "How could he" My mom said she went on and on like this until they had to leave.

Nobody knows how long she had been laying down, but it really makes me mad that people would do that! How can you see someone laying down almost in the road on a busy street like that and NOT DO ANYTHING!? I mean, what the HELL!

This memory was brought on to something I saw on the news today, I'll see if I can find it....

Found it:

Nothing gross, but it will make you sick to see the way people react.

Thats appauling. No1 can be that busy they cant stop and help! I dont know what is worse, the guy that hit him driving off, or the people that saw it, and saw him and did nothing! At least the driver may have been in such a daze after he could think straight and didnt realise to turn around etc

Wheres the natural instinct normal, nice people have to help those in need? Even if you know ABSOLUTELY nothing about first aid, rescusitation etc you can still go over and talk to the victim after caling for help.

That video just made me angry! I really think those people who just looked at the guy and left him their deserve to be punished hard, even more then the driver!!!

The other day was driving along the freeway sitting on 100kmh in the work TRUCK when suddenly the car directly in front of us slammed on its breaks, screaching to a stop. Within a split second, my uncle (truck driver) swurved and break, without even looking or thinking. We managed to miss the small car in front, and the car next to us, without any damage. BUt we both were so rattled we had to stop work for an hour. Just thinking what could have happend- if we hit the car in front, it would have been totally smashed and the 2 young girls would have definitly died, if we swerved and hit the car next to us, it would have gone flying into the side wall, we had that much weight on the truck we could have rolled, many many possibilties.

This just shows that the driver, may have actually been a good person, but was overcome by what had happened to stop and help.

A big f*** you to the people that didnt help him!

That is disgusting....it took that long for these people to just go look at the poor guy? what did they think?someone was going to do a drive-by shooting if they went and checked up on the guy......?
And do you know what happened to him later?

As for the women you saw, most people don't want to go near some one who they think is crazy or confused. What would your first impression be if you saw someone like that near your house?
I'm staying in Philly, but something like that is very common. Most people are afraid of going near the person in case they get hurt by them. A month ago, me and my sister were going to the Library, and near the Library is a Court building, this is not a run down area like you probably figured by now.And this area is very notorious for homeless people.
So we were walking down the street, and we see a guy sleeping on the sidewalk using some rags to cover his face so the sun won't disturb him.And his not even moving at all, you can't see him breathing or anything. And in front of me and my sister are four guys, they stop and just point at the guy. Discussing weather they should call 911 to check on the guy (we wanted to, but no cell phone) . But after some time they decided he was breathing, and left him. They decided he was alive from 10 feet away. And we weren't the only ones who saw the homeless man, dozens of cars and people saw him as well.
My point is, people are so used seeing people who sleep on the sidewalk with barely any clothes on, people dismiss it from their thoughts as a common occurrence. When someone sees a homeless person, or someone who appears to be crazy, they do their best to avoid them. Especially if they think a weak, ragged, confused person can somehow "hurt" them.

It's not because they don't care, it's because they value their own safety more than the well being, and health of others :(

And the only way that can be fixed is, if everyone wasn't so afraid of dieing or getting hurt. The way people talk about death is as if it's something bad, that causes pain that cannot be described with words. My question to this is, how the hell do they know that?did they die and come back to life? or wait even better.....God told them it's something bad and very painful

That sucks! I saw that on the news! But one thing doesn't make sense, if you're from NE Ohio, why were you in Conneticut?

most of people are more concern about their own problems then the problems of others it's very sad in this day and age their are alot more people who would rather see someone die in the street than help out

I saw the video you're talking about the other day on the Today show. It actually made me bawl. That poor poor man and his family. I can't imagine. I would be so angry if that was one of my relatives. Just the "what ifs" would kill me. Like what if someone would've tried to help him, to stop his bleeding, or to resuscitate him, could he still be alive today? They said he was a perfectly healthy man before this, an old man yes, but a healthy one. I just keep replaying it in my mind and it makes me sad. When I watched it on the Today show they kept replaying it over and over and I found myself crying and yelling at the screen (my poor son must've thought I was crazy!) b/c it just seemed so senseless to me that so many people just stood there and walked right by. I really hope that they catch the people who are responsible for this if they haven't already.

That's pretty damn sad...youtube and Etha's story. Lots of these stories really further my doubt in humanity. I know some people are good people, but still, that's just a handful when you look at the bigger picture. If it does not involve fame, money, sex, or television, the world turns a blind eye.

Reminds me of something that happened at school (nothing major), just someone fell off his skateboard and smacked his head on the cement floor really hard. I was 15 feet away while some people were directly next to him. I walked over to ask if he was okay and if he needed to go to the health building (we were two buildings away). The sad thing I remember, was that I was the only one who helped (aside from the girl who picked up his books, handed it over, and walked away).
