The Marketing team is a new concept and one that is extremely important to the future growth of this site. Not only is it a great opportunity to get involved with web marketing, seo and learning the inside tips and tricks of web promotion but it's an area that I value highly.
The Role
Roles of the marketing team will include;
- submitting us to various directories and top sites
- finding link partners
- bringing on board new members
- helping us sell our advertising inventory
- Coming up with new funky methods of getting our name out there.
Some of the advertising members i have on some of my other forums have previously done stuff like submitting youtube videos with our links in them, running competitions on other forums (sponsored by us of course) and such and such. If you think you could help in this area then please apply below with the following details.
Perks
1.) Free custom titles and the ability to change them whenever you want
2.) You're username will be blue (I guess that's better than the standard black)
3.) You'll have access to the private marketing forums
Your Application
Please answer the below questions when applying.
Note : If you don't have experience in some of the areas or questions I ask about, don't worry just be honest and say you don't know much about it, i'm looking for enthusiasm more than anything else but valid experiences will be a bonus.
- List any experience you have with website and/or forum promotion
- What you want to achieve from being on the marketing team
- Your ideas for potential marketing projects in the future Or simply how you think you're going to help
Applications Close On the 10th June 2009
Please post your applications in the thread below and any applications after 10th June 2009 will not be accepted. Good luck.

I just finished taking a marketing class, but do you mind if I ask a few questions? :)
1. "Finding link partners" - Sorry, but what does that mean?
2. "Helping us sell our advertising inventory" - Does this mean like selling SigBar T-shirts or something?
I might join, but I want to fully understand the idea based on this team before I do. :)

I am on the same page as Phantom, I would like to know a little more aswell. I can go to top 100 sites and list us there, but I am sure you want more than that. I guess I just need to know How in depth you want us to be.
Finding linking partners - I understand that to mean find allies (in the signature graphic areas) or partners like gaming sites that we can post a button link or small banner advertisment for Sigbar on their site.

I know this is my second application, but I think I could do both, and probably do this better! Leaving it up to you trade. Excited!
- List any experience you have with website and/or forum promotion-- Not much forum type, but i was the marketing advisor for the local Prevent Child Abuse group, and I am the graphics designer as well as marketing advisor for my church. Have worked with teams on websites before, but I honestly can't say much.
- What you want to achieve from being on the marketing team-- I want to be a better marketer (If that is a word); make new, better relationships, but overall, I want to promote SigBar's name, and truly make this the BEST graphics forum on the internet, AND make SigBar a household name; I mean really, why pay for graphics when you can make awesome relationships with awesome people, and get AMAZING graphics right here.
- Your ideas for potential marketing projects in the future Or simply how you think you're going to help-- I'm thinkin ad's on google adspace, but also STICKERS, if there is anything that gets somebody's name out, it is Stickers! I don't know what it is about them, but stickers advertise like nothing else... shirts and hats are WONDERFUL tools as well.
Thanks
btw. on mission trip for two weeks starting sunday, will not be avaliable, will try to get on from cellphone when possible

Hi Tradedemon,
Brief Background: I am a self-employed Stone Mason in NZ. My primary role in my business is gaining sales/promoting my product also managing a number of installation crews and ensuring customer satisfaction. Primarily all my sales work is done either face to face or by phone. I am a skilled salesman and have grown my business very quickly over the last 2yrs. www.hardasrocks.co.nz
What do i want from this role: I see this as another way of improving my sales skills in an area of sales which i have had no previous experience. I look forward to the challenge of implementing new marketing ideas and learning new sales techniques.
- submitting us to various directories and top sites - I have no idea about this
- finding link partners - I have no idea about this
- bringing on board new members - I have plenty of ideas about this
- helping us sell our advertising inventory - I no nothing about this but i am a top salesman and excel in promotion.
- Coming up with new funky methods of getting our name out there. - I'm sure I can come up with lots ideas about this. As you have seen some of in a thread i started last week.
- List any experience you have with website and/or forum promotion - Nil-very little. I have people who do my website design/promotion for me.
- What you want to achieve from being on the marketing team - What i would like to achieve through being part of the marketing team is ultimately increasing the amount of traffic/active member count coming to the forum. And this is were i believe i could best implement the current skills I have.
- Your ideas for potential marketing projects in the future Or simply how you think you're going to help - Initially with my current skills I would be very good at recruiting new members and increasing the number of active members through various promotional type competitions. Once I have gained the knowledge of the other various skills required, I believe i could also be an asset in implementing those because of my sales background.
I look forward to the challenge of being part of the marketing team.
Questions:
Will the marketing team be responsible for promotion of just this site?
Will there be any collaboration with your other marketing/advertising teams from your other sites?
Will there be any training/guidance provided for skills that I lack?
What level of commitment are you wanting in hours a week?
How many members are you looking for?
Cheers Tradedemon, I look forward to your response.

Wow! This seems just for me, as I recently finished a marketing class and enjoyed it basically the whole time!
- List any experience you have with website and/or forum promotion-- I have taken an experienced marketing class, and I am the marketer for a local shop I work at. Also, my responsibility in a different clan is to find other clan sites and post them, so I have some experience with forums also.
- What you want to achieve from being on the marketing team-- I would increase the rank of the forum and get the word out to increase the member count and activity. I would also want to get some sick graphics on here to make the forum better than it already is!
- Your ideas for potential marketing projects in the future Or simply how you think you're going to help-- Anything I can get my hands on....local, google, yahoo, shirts, hats, friends, the site ranking. Also, through various promotional type competitions.
Hope I can help out, thanks!

Hi guys,
Sorry for the delayed reply but as the deadline is looming i thought I'd get back to some of you :)
In terms of advertising inventory well it's basically finding people who wish to pay to advertise on our site.
Link building and Link partners: Well as Jeffsigs has mentioned it's all about building relationships with other forums, other graphics sites and any other site that has a section or a need or appreciation for the artistic side of things.
We have a product i.e. this site and community and we want it to become known. We have to work hard to get that name known and that means working with other owners to exchange links, banners or what not. It involves emailing other site owners, and proposing a relationship or agreement. You can do it however you want but either way both sites are set to benefit in some way.
Once I select the team there will probably be alot of brain storming in the advertising team forums, certainly some rules of engagement, and what's allowed and what's not allowed will have to be set. But as long as you have the energy to really help put our name out then you'll be the type of member I want on the Marketing Team. This could potentially grow into something really cool.
Once again I am looking for committed individuals that will be with the team for many years to come. If you're only going to be available over the summers then it's not really something for you.
Hope that helps.
EDIT: forgot to answer paybacs questions, see below:
Questions:
Will the marketing team be responsible for promotion of just this site?
Yes it will just be this site...
Will there be any collaboration with your other marketing/advertising teams from your other sites?
No, I want to keep this team working strictly on signaturebar.com
Will there be any training/guidance provided for skills that I lack?
Yes if you have the energy to do something but need help/advise and training to do it I will be able to help. although for most things it's simply a matter of being pointed to some good articles and then asking me questions.
What level of commitment are you wanting in hours a week?
It's not really about hours or weeks but certainly I'm looking for results and a general availability thoughout the year. Once we get going many of the tasks you can probably get started on and keep doing without any help, but I would like to have like a weekly or bi-weekly thread meeting in the private forums to keep on top of what everyones been up to. Some weeks you might be on daily discussing other times you might not.
How many members are you looking for?
Idearly 4-5, as I have plans to have different people focussing on different parts of the promotion.
Hope the above help.

Working on the idea of building relationships with other forums I thought of this idea.
A lot of other gfx forums aren't tailored to suit the needs of 'noobs'. There is generally no interest in 'noobs' on some of the higher quality sites, which is why I think we should be in contact with the forums owner/manager. Maybe we could work out a deal or proposition with that forum and they can direct their 'unwanted noobs' to here at signaturebar? Whilst it sounds harsh, it happens alot. There are many sites who are unfriendly to noobs that are just beginning and don't have time for them.
Maybe we can narrow our target market to development of 'noobs' and attract them from other forums?

Certainly everyone is welcome here, and that sounds like a really great idea.

Thanks for the response tradedemon. Nice idea KRS25. Another idea i had would be getting the request team to include sigbar userbars when they send their completed sigs to the requester with a little note along the lines of please feel free to use the sigbar userbar along with you sig. Something like that. Put the userbar in front of them and give them the option of using it.
Anyway just another idea that needs to be expanded on.
Thanks for the further info and answers to my questions Tradedemon. I believe creating link partners and link building would be something i could jump on immediatly. Though i would be very interested in finding advertisers. Finding advertisers sounds like a real challenge and would diffently require some very clear strategy.
I believe i could commit 4-5hrs a week to seriously commiting to this role.
The ideas that come flooding when i start thinking about this is just crazy.
Anyways if i'm not excepted i'd be happy to throw all my ideas the marketing teams way.

- List any experience you have with website and/or forum promotion
With many other forums I have been asked to recruit people. In total for one forum I recruited 20 people in like 4 days. I am really good at this stuff and have many friends over the internet and who are also good with graphics.
- What you want to achieve from being on the marketing team
Making many new friends by recruiting them and grow the community large. Make SigBar a little more learning to make computer graphics too. The new comers could then get there work critiqued and make SigBar a better learning and growing to learn graphics community
- Your ideas for potential marketing projects in the future Or simply how you think you're going to help
On other websites where a SigBar Userbar, Signature, or avatar and create a widespread advertisement without other websites accusing us of advertising without permission. Or you could put the link to signaturebar in your signature and maybe describe it a little under it.
- Side Note
During the summer I can spend much time advertising and During the school year I can prolly advertise for like a few hours a day.
Thanks for reading
