Hi guys,

Behind the scenes we've been thinking about where we want to go with sigbar and one of the first areas we're figuring out are requests.

It maybe a shock for some but we're ditching the concept of a request team. One thing we experienced a lot is that people would be active filling requests then funnily enough once they made the request team they'd dissappear :)

We want requests to be open to everyone not just a specific set of members. Making sigs is fun so if a request comes in, give it a shot. It's a great way of developing ones skills and more so it spreads the load of request filling across the whole community.

So What's Next

Well we still want the request process to be rewarding so instead we're setting up a small bunch of rules for requests.

1.) It'll cost 250 Sigbar Points to make a request.
2.) Who do you pay the 250 Points to ? Well you pay it to the guy who makes your sig.

The basic scenario is that anyone can fill requests. However you'll only get paid if the requester likes your sig and takes it.

So lets go over a couple of examples.

1.) John Makes a request for a spiderman signature.
2.) Tradedemon and Gromit have a go at the signature...
3.) They both post their sigs (But with watermarks or some other element to prevent John from walking off with the sig)
3.) John likes Gromits sig more than mine and decides he'll take that one.
4.) John pays Gromit and Gromit sends John a version of the sig without his watermark on it.

And that's it. The only thing changing here is that designers should post their sigs in the request section with a watermark or something.

Cheaters

Those are the rules and as much as we can, the supermods, and admins will handle any disputes and generally make sure things are happening properly. However it's up to everyone to play nice.

Best Request Fillers

Every month we're going to track how many points people are earning from requests as well as their general activity on the site. And every month we're going to announce a winner who will win maybe $10-$20 worth of goods from Amazon. Whether it's a DVD, gift card or whatever we'll decide with the winner whats possible.

Either way we want people to use points for requests and we want those points to mean something.

That's the new system and it will begin tommorrow. I'll post up some new rules etc.

Good luck to all, and hopefully this should help the site and keep less dependency on particular groups and staffers.

Thanks for giving us a heads-up on how things are going.

Also, why don't you delete 1-year-no-use accounts?

We don't want to delete accounts incase people decide to come back. It shouldn't affect the live users if these accounts exist ?

No it doesn't, but does it slow down the forum?

Is that a question or a statement ?

Yeah actually more accounts doesn't have any effect on performance :)

That's an excellent change. Pretty much the same as the old days, except for the sweet incentive.

Hopefully, more designers will do signatures instead of thinking it's someone else's job:D

Can't wait to see how it works out

I can fully understand the reasoning behind why the request team has folded but I have to admit I'm so glad my name is no longer bright barbie pink :D
