Maybe I am being a bit thick but....... can someone explain REALISM sigs to me.

The ones I have seen just look like a picture with a render pasted on top. Then I see comments about background not fitting the render.

I just dont get it.

Realism to me is making it look realistic, like a photo almost in most cases.

This could mean putting a gaming render into a real-life setting, surrounding, and then altering the lighting and shadows to make it look as if it is supposed to be there. Also, there is also the realism where it makes things such as C4D's and puts them into real-life settings and make it seem as if it is supposed to be there. For example my roadkill sig, and my weed sig. Its bringing fantasy and putting it into a real life setting, and making it look realistic.

Thats my opinion anyway..

Do either of these count as realism?

Imo no, as they are both digitally constructed pieces. Had that ball been put into a stock photo of a room, then yes. But because you made both, I don't think it qualifys. Also, putting that text into a real life stock would make it realism imo, because right now it does not look like a photo imo.

I would consider that realism/photo manip.

Does this help a bit?

Okay, Realism is a very simple and uncomplex style that take a bit of work... There are little to no effects in realism... The sig is based on 3 main ideas... Depth Concept and Lighting... The enviroment means alot as a Fireing Army Soldier would look a tad stanger in a feild of dasiys with little kids behind him... You have to find a well suited BG for the render or even make one yourself... Lighting is key in any good realism... Everythign needs to cast a shadow if lighting is on it... The depth has to look persice and dead on for it to look real... The key with Realism is to make everythgin look as Real as Possible.

Actually realism is the most difficult part of design cuz details are the most important and most of the time is about photo manipulation, colors, shadows, lightning etc. In a real background adding ur focal and make it look like has been there since the beginning, realism theme doesn't mean u need to add only a c4d or a non realistic render, u can also add a fluffy koala on a desert its still realism as long as its made to fit.
