I don't think you'd know who Chum is on this site, but he's like a Master at Gimp! If you browse around for a little in the tutorial section, you should find some good stuff, that's reasonably easy to do. (If you're having trouble with any terms, feel free to PM me, and I'll be happy to help you out, fellow Gimper.)

(Be aware, that even though this one says "Open up a Render and a Background Stock" for it, it can also be done with any regular stocks.)

(This one isn't too advanced, but think of it like a challenge to get better(: I under stand you probably aren't the greatest of friends with the Paths Tool, but I know you have some really cool brushes in your arsenal, that would work well with this. This can be done with stocks (as it says). Just erase over your focal. For this one, I also think you could have a regular render that's a person, and have a really cool wall stock.

(Easy ways to do Clipping Masks in Gimp, would be to use the clone tool:

Clip Masks sound scary (they're not), but they add a really nice effect to your sigs. This can be used with any type of sig.

I hope I helped a tad. If I sounded a little harsh before, then I'm very sorry. I just want to see you get better every time you make a sig(:

Like I said, if you need any help with terms, or where certain tools and filters are, please PM me. Also, If you need any extra resources like effect C4D's, text, regular C4D's, or brushes etc. then seriously, DON'T HESITATE to hit that PM button.

EDIT: Also, once you begin learning everything about Gimp, and how certain things work (like exactly what layer mode does what.) you can actually use Photoshop tuts in Gimp. It's a little like translating into a language similar to English, but with a few extra terms. (I shouldn't say that, because it was like that for me. But whatever floats your boat.)
