Brilliant, it amazes me how you can start with something like that and end up with what you did, you not only add effects for the background but also add the effects to the render too to improve it by far. brilliant

I definately prefer V1 Gromit - mainly because, with such a wonderful render to work with - your options can be endless, and with a lack of emotion on the render too - the theme for the image can be whatever.

You went the soft, gentle route, and I like the crispness to the first one, compared to the added extra's in the first one.

I actually prefer it more because it reminds me of a nice soft depth of field image, and again - you`ve used the render for the background, top marks.

I want to see more people ... come on, get those design juices flowing - try to stay away from brushes (pre-made ones) unless ABSOLUTELY necessary!!! Learn to create for yourself - POST THE IMAGES!!!!

I definately think this should be a weekly challenge - maybe something I can take control of, and the most improved person that week can maybe have some of my sigpoints etc (or just the benefit of knowing they learnt something that particular week!) lol.

What do you all think?

I know my weakness is text... deff text i hate it when i finish my sig and dont know how to put the text on it! :)

Xile....i think that you could be onto something there, that'd be cool. :D Ill be working on my attempt sometime today :D ont expect a miracle though lol, but beautiful render, tis one of the nicest ive seen in a long time, sounds corny but its one of them that draws you in.

Gromit.....I still love the 1st the best, but theyre both excellent, deffo the favs of mine from you. :D:D

I like the choice of words for the image!! So thats a good start lol.

I see your background, whispy - but very plain (no offence) - have you tried using some of the filters within photoshop on a few duplicated render layers to create the background? You can always add a little brushing to it if you feel it necessary.

Also - I see the whole sig has a bevel effect - no offence, but thats a BIG no no hehe - again, no offence, but it makes the image look ..... tacky.

Bevels are mainly for giving text life, and perhaps if you have a logo or something, then 3 layers of the logo - one is BLURRED 5px Gaussian blur, the second is desaturated and MERGED with the layer below - and then that layer is bevelled. Then the top layer is set to overlay - to keep the detail of the image, but also to give chance to some of the bevel coming up from beneath... try it with a render - see the difference it makes!!!

Anyway - keep plugging away - try using a SMUDGE tut on www.good-tutorials.com or whatever site you prefer - and learn to start with a good background - everything you learn can then be used on your own sig for the `challenges` lol
