Well, I know that rap is a trend amongst a lot of teens (not me, but a lot of people I know). Some popular artists right now are Flo-Rida and Soulja Boy *shudder*.
There is also emo music and alternative rock, and I think punk rock is making kind of a comeback (at least in my area), but I can't really name any superpopular rock artists right now.

Techno hit the teenage demographic pretty hard, though techno hit everyone pretty hard I guess. After its initial break in the late 90's it has stormed into the hears of millions. The only techno band that I think everyone has heard of is Daft Punk, however. The bands tend to stay small and unpopularized. Which in a way is splendid because you don't get the problem of people selling out quite as much.
Then there is the usual rush of rap and since I live in a rural area many people like country music. I loathe the two. The kids I hang out with listen to pretty much all forms of rock from alternative to screamo. So I couldn't put a mark on what the majority of students like. My school is pretty mixed when it comes to tastes.

My school's really into the pop/rap crowd. I despise it myself, but it's their opinion.

Russian music sites with names like MP3sale.ru (http://www.mp3sale.ru/artists.php&pid=28&sub=frm) or similar are catching the attention of U.S. music fans looking for cheap downloads. The sites offer large catalogs, high quality downloads with no restrictions on use, and extremely low prices -- most individual songs sell for 10 cents or less each, and full albums can be had for about $1. The sites, which contain English-language versions with prices in U.S. dollars, generally include legal notices asserting that they are in full compliance with copyright law, though some warn that non-Russian users should consult the laws of their own countries. "Russian legislation is the same as the rest of the world," said Peter Necarsulmer, president of the Coalition for Intellectual Property Rights, a Washington, D.C.-based group that watches copyright-related activity in Russia. "Therefore, placing music on a webpage without the author's permission is, of course, illegal."

Does this guy have an ICQ number under his post? If he does, don't reply until he asks again. Chances are he won't.
He will have one post. And probably a location of a country in europe.
