Putting "Your Text" or "your Name here" isn't quite good enough and this is a Great Example brought to my Attention today..

In that case you could do it with any signature. Including my current one and your current one.

In Theroy, With enough time you could rip any signature. From my days of text extracting from images I used to go in pixel by pixel and remove the large text in video game banners (not the copyright or anything)

Why is it so much more important to protect for sale signatures rather than everyday ones? People who rip signatures will rip it no matter what you do. No need to fret about it.

True, but with it being a part of the forum where we sell for sigbar points, people are gonna be that extra bit peeved if it gets ripped. For the seller and the person buying it.

I beg to differ with wnough time and effort your signature can be next to impossible to rip. I am not saying that you can make your signature 100% impentrable because you cant. To get back on topic the main idea is to detour somone from ripping you signature enough so that they will move on to somthing eaiser

ok well the whole debate is pointless because only the lowest of the low on the internet/forums spend their time ripping because everyone hates them and even though they think they are cool they're not. anyways I didn't know this was so easy so thank you jeff.

it is just a detourant to those who want a quick easy sig, thats all. I can most likely rip any sig made, and if someone knows how to do so then they probably arent the ones ripping sigs since they know how to use PS or Gimp. ITs the dumb ones that rip

This is a un-watermarked image

This is a water marked image

As you can see the watermarked image has "Don't Rip" printed on it. This prevents somone from copying the image and claiming it as there own.

the watermark feature is a real kick *** which i used to use in my school project i think coreldraw has it if im not wrong it really makes it nicer with that transparent background where u can see below layer of the pic if im not worng krs25 used the watermark feature for his current watermark.

Hm, that makes me think , that "Don't Rip" doesn't help anything, as in , you should put your own name on it ,instead of 'Don't Rip'. I could tell anyone, that I put the watermark on there, so that others couldn't rip it. You get what I'm trying to say here?DO YOU??? DO YOU????? :O:O

I understand what you mean and I don't think that we should worry too much about rippers, the people who know how to rip effectively are not the ones who need to do it anyway. Any other rips are easy to find.

I could if I wanted to cover up any name in minutes, thats why putting the dont rip watermark is perfect. Yes you could spend the time to cover each "dont rip" but really if you are that good you would probably just make your own sigs and not rip them. People who rip can barely use Paint

I would agree... I might start watermarking... hmmm, I have considered it for a while.. but I just never take the time to do it.

Its pretty simple, put white text on top of the sig, then change the opacity to about 30% or something that suits.

There are some tutorials, there is one on this site I was when I joined.

There is a tutorial, I found it! Thank god I did. The tutorial essentially simply walks you through how to make a watermark and why it is done, simple easy and sweet. Does that help you?

Watermarking seems a bit pointless, the second post showed how easy it is to rip someones work. But I do not condone this and any sigs I revieve I gladly sport the watermark.

honestly i only do the watermark cause its in the rules. i will almost always forget to put it in until im about to save it (or already have) as a png. the only time i was ticked about someone who riped my sig was when i was doing a request for itzogi. i posted my attempt at his request then someone else posted up three attempts his 2ed one was my sig with red text on the bottom. (some of you may remember that...) i was angry for about 10 minutes then i got over it....

personally i could care less (if you ask me that when i am actually good it might change) for now i would take it as a complement because it says "hey you have made something so good that i wont to use it." if i saw someone using one of my sigs and his theft was as bad as the first one in this thread i might even make him one because he chose my sig to take and not something that was actually better (again that may change when i can actually make a good sig)

***this is purely my opinion not that of the community***

Its pretty simple, put white text on top of the sig, then change the opacity to about 30% or something that suits.

Or do it my way. Enter a white text and set it to overlay. It's less obvious but I guess it's easier to rip.

i actually have got a signature ripped on another forum it is realy annoying for the people who try hard to make good signatures so if there is anyway to at least make it hard to rip i would like to know.
