Word Filters:

Starting today I have enabled word filters. This is to lighten the work load of the staff and to cut down on the swearing and nasty talk as we are a family friendly forum. Instead of curse words, you will now see asterics in place of the letters that should be there (*****).

If you have any problems or suggestions with the word filter please let me know via PM or MSN (goldgl3@hotmail.com).

Reputation:

I have set up reputation with different settings than from before. These are the ways to earn rep and rep power:

Default Reputation
Upon registration, new users recieve 1 level of reputation.
Register Date Factor
For every 150 days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
Post Count Factor
For every 400 posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
Reputation Point Factor
For every 200 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
Minimum Post Count
User must have 10 posts before his reputation hits count on others.
Minimum Reputation Count
User must have 1 reputation before his reputation hits count on others.
Daily Reputation Clicks Limit
A user can give reputation 25 times within a 24 hours period.
Reputation User Spread
User must give reputation to 1 other person before hitting the same member again.

These are the default VB FAQ on User Reputation:

What is reputation?

Reputation is a way of rating users depending on the quality of their posts. If the administrators have enabled reputation, then the reputation icon will be visible in posts.

Reputation may be positive http://www.signaturebar.com/forums/images/signaturebar/reputation/reputation_pos.gif, negative http://www.signaturebar.com/forums/images/signaturebar/reputation/reputation_neg.gif, or neutral http://www.signaturebar.com/forums/images/signaturebar/reputation/reputation_balance.gif . Negative reputation may only be given if the administrator has enabled this. Neutral reputation is only given when the person giving reputation does not meet the criteria set by the administrator to affect someone else's reputation.

How do I give reputation?

To give reputation, click on the reputation icon in the relevant post. This will reveal a form to complete with the reputation type and the reason for giving the reputation. If negative reputation is disabled then it will not be displayed in this form. You may not give reputation for the same post twice.

How do I know what reputation I have received?

You can view the reputation that you have received in your User CP (User Control Panel) where it is displayed at the bottom of the User CP page. Here you will see the latest reputation that you have received and whether this is positive, negative or neutral. Your total reputation will be shown as series of reputation indicators in your posts and profile. The more positive your reputation, the more positive icons will be shown. The more negative your reputation the more negative icons will be shown.

How much reputation is given? What is reputation power?

If the administrator has enabled this, the amount of reputation that each user will give (or take away if negative) is shown in the user's posts as 'Reputation Power'. The value of the reputation power is determined by the administrator and may increase over time depending on the settings they have applied.

What if I don't want anyone to see my reputation?

You can disable the display of your reputation by going to your User CP and selecting Edit Options. On this page you will find a check box labelled 'Show Your Reputation Level'. Un-checking this box will remove the display of your reputation and replace it with the Reputation Disabled icon. You can still give and receive reputation while your reputation display is disabled.

If you have any further questions about reputations or word filters please do not hesitate to ask them here or in PM or MSN.

Thanks,
Etha,

Looks good and also enables people to get reputation easierly to people who deserve it... here's an idea since we're trying to get more sigs, userbars, avatars onto this website, there should be like, +1 rep for submitting 50 sigs or something, just an idea.

Whats the differnce or meaning for the number then the green squares? I understand the green means positive rep but what does it mean by two or more green squares and whats the number mean? Just looking back up the posts Loki has 17 and one green square and KRS has 5 and 2 green squares? Just a bit confused on the difference between the number and the squares?

Also i see a few users know have infractions, was this implemented as part of this and how does that work?

that 17 means I have the second highest rep power on the forum  (I believe?) I think noobie has the most rep power...

the green bars represent how much rep you have actually recieved

just re-read etha's post it explains it all

I did a little googling and this is the various Rep Levels (these are the standard rep levels that can be altered by admin but from what i have seen around the site they are using the standard format for titles) Sorry i dont know the rep points required to get these levels but perhaps an admin could shed some light on it.

-User is infamous around these parts
-User can only hope to improve
-User has a little shameless behavior in the past

-User is an unknown quantity at this point - 0 rep required this is where you start, up from here for negative rep down for more postive rep

-User is on the distinguished Road
-User will become famous soon enough
-User has a spectacular aura about
-User is a jewel in the rough
-User is just really nice
-User is a glorious beacon of light
-User is a name known to all
-User is a splendid one to behold
-User has much to be proud of
-User has a brilliant future
-User has reputation beyond repute

I don't know exactly, but if you hover over the tiny little square next to your rep level it tells you which one you are. I am the jewel in the rough one.
